Programme & Portfolio Management

“A Programme is a group of related projects managed in a coordinated manner to obtain benefits and control NOT available from managing them individually. Programmes may include elements of related work outside of the scope of the discreet projects in the programme… Some projects within a programme can deliver useful incremental benefits to the organization before the programme itself has completed.”

Considering the multiple aspects involved in managing projects, integration is essential in keeping control. We’ll collaborate with you to tackle the day-to-day detail, whilst never losing sight of the overall strategy and goals. From concept or pre-construction to project closeout, GSP’s consultants provide proactive problem solving solutions for any programme, serving as an integral part of each project team and working hard to ensure that projects come in on time and within budget.

Strategic planning terms

Strategic Planning

GSP Planning can help construct your organisation’s process of defining its strategy, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy. We can help develop control mechanisms for guiding the implementation of the strategy, which generally involves setting goals, determining actions to achieve the goals, and mobilizing resources to execute the actions.

A strategy describes how the ends (goals) will be achieved by the means (resources).

Project Planning

Our ability to provide a range of planning services; from producing level one strategic plans to detailed level five plans & beyond; enables us to maximise the efficiency of the project and reduce overall costs. With some considerate planning, project success can be ensured before it begins. From establishing scope, through schedule and resource requirements, to process implementation and ongoing analysis & evaluation, GSP Planning can help shape a plan for your specific project needs. This includes gauging risk and developing mitigation strategies that will help you save time and money.

From concept to closeout, we’ll help you develop a plan you can build on.

Collaborative planning terms

Collaborative Planning

Collaborative Planning can make a big difference to the success of your projects. By setting up & facilitating master planning sessions, GSP Planning can help you get buy in, understanding and agreement of the projects goals and requirements right at the start of the project, from stakeholders to suppliers. Combined with regular collaborative update sessions, this will ensure that all interested parties are involved & kept up to date with progress, resulting in more efficient delivery of the project and faster responses to any possible issues that can crop up.

Collaborative planning can be a huge help, from complex projects where there are a lot of different people involved, through to higher level portfolio management covering multiple projects – with everyone bought in, communicating and working in the same direction, delivery becomes much smoother and less stressful.

Earned value Management

EVM

Earned Value Management is a project management technique able to improve both project definition, as well as the analysis of overall project performance, by combining measurements of scope, schedule, and costs in a single integrated system. EVM can also provide accurate forecasts of project performance problems, which is an important contribution for project management.

GSP Planning  can create an EVM solution for your business, ensuring you keep full control of your projects by evaluating the project plan and associated expenditure. We can create indicators and forecasts of cost performance (over budget or under budget) and schedule performance (behind schedule or ahead of schedule), & ensure that the project plan, actual work and work-completed value is monitored to see if a project is on track.

Project mobilisation planning terms

Project Mobilisation Planning

We believe that the earlier we can be involved in the planning of a project, the greater the benefits to the client. Mobilisation planning is the process of developing sufficient information for clients to address risk and decide to allocate resources in order to maximize the probability of a successful project. This involves team selection and preparing a pre-project plan; review and analysis of technology & project sites; preparation of scope and conceptual estimates and schedules; Evaluation and analysis of project alternatives; and establishment of project guidelines and execution plan.
